After a three-year study, Smithrim and Upitis discovered that students who learned in an arts-partnered school environment scored on average 11% stronger on mathematical “tests of computation and estimation than students in…control schools.”  This was standard regardless of socioeconomic (116).  These effects were not apparent until after three years of programming had occurred, leading researchers to believe that the effects are gradual (121).
